WalMart is the world’s largest retail chain with (as of 2020) nearly 11.5 thousand stores in 27 countries operating under 56 different names. Walmart is a family owned business controlled by the Walton family.
Walmart is divided into four divisions: Walmart US, Walmart International, Sam’s Club and Global eCommerce. The company offers a variety of retail formats across all of these divisions, including supercenters, supermarkets, hypermarkets, warehouse clubs, cash stores, homeware, specialty electronics, restaurants, clothing stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, and digital retail. Wal-Mart’s strategy includes such terms as maximum assortment and minimum, aiming for wholesale, prices. Wal-Mart’s main competitors in the U.S. retail market are Home Depot, Kroger, Sears Holdings Corporation, Costco, and Target.

According to the Fortune Global 500, Walmart became the world’s largest company by revenue in 2019 with $ 514.405 billion. It is also the largest private employer in the world with 2.2 million employees.
