Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. – manufacturer of integrated microcircuit electronics. One of the largest manufacturers of central processors, graphics processors and adapters (after the acquisition of ATI Technologies in 2006), motherboards and chipsets for them, and after that of RAM and solid-state drives under the Radeon trademark. AMD also develops and manufactures server components such as processors and chipsets.
The company has not had its own production since 2009 and places orders at the facilities of other companies. AMD uses GlobalFoundries and TSMC as a permanent partner-manufacturing contractor for the production of its chips. AMD’s share in the authorized capital of GlobalFoundries at the end of the fourth quarter of 2011 was 8.8%.
AMD’s strategic partners in the personal computer market include HP Inc., Dell, Acer, Fujitsu, Fujitsu Technology Solutions and IBM. AMD’s main competitors are Intel (manufacturing processors and chipsets; the companies have not only disagreements, but also joint projects) and Nvidia (manufacturing graphics processors).
